I don’t think I’ve been to any country that doesn’t have an Irish pub or bar but quality differs from place to place.

@Brian: At home, they’re just pubs. True that.

Irish pubs are best at home but then they’re just pubs! 🙂

It needs the right kind of atmosphere to be a proper Irish pub.

“Me local”…absolutely love that and thank you for enlightening us!

@Kate: Irish pubs, the real deal is at home.

@Marinela: Funny. The question is: in that pub, did you get a Guinness that was properly poured?

@Laura: Brings a tear to my eye, the song request…and meeting the fisherman from the night before. Small world.

@Francis: Another vote for Guinness!

Perhaps the thing I miss most about my home country is the Guiness! Thanks for sharing your experiences

I just went to an “Irish pub” yesterday: The owner was English, there were books with fun facts about England lying around, the bar tender was a German girl who had no idea what to do with the Guinness, but what it DOES have going for it: it’s the only place in a 100 mile radius where I can get a Guinness and a cozy atmosphere. You can’t have it all, I guess …

I love that they played a song “for the Americans,” too!
