@Food Jihadist: I can’t imagine the wine selection in Egypt is great, but I’m sure Egypt has some spice and flavors that we missed in Argentina. Just focus on what that country/region does best 🙂

@Jetpacker: Wine is always a good excuse to travel and explore! If you tried an awesome Malbec, it was probably from the Mendoza region - that's the specialty grape of that wine region. We'll be writing about that area soon, so stay tuned! @Andy: No worries, I had a glass of Italian Chianti in my hand right after pressing publish on this piece :) Argentine Malbecs are world famous, but we also found some interesting wines from little known grapes like Petit Verdot or Bonarda. They are often used as blending grapes, but are good on their own as well. All this coming soon in the Mendoza report! @Anthony: We returned after this day to our hosts in Neuquen like little kids returning from a first day of school - we were so excited to share everything. A really great experience. All the practical details you need to organize and plan are here, but let us know if you have any other questions about this area.

Great article and images! I have always want to hitch hike throughout the countryside and add a touch of wine tasting in to the mix, sounds perfect. We will have to attempt the same journey I think. Thanks for the inspiration!

My preferred Argentinian delight is Malbec.
But having said that, I turn down no South American wine.

Is there where I confess having a Chilean red in my hand right now? 🙂

The best wine we ever had was an Argentine malbec. Don’t remember the name… guess that means we’ve gotta go back. Wine seems like a viable excuse for travel, right?
