We’ll have to spend more time exploring dumplings in Beijing and Shanghai during our next visit.

I did a google search on Gou Bu Li Bao and they look delicious. I also like the story behind the name – the direct translation means “stuffed bun that dogs are not interested in.” Do you have a #12 to add?

There is a strong Japanese influence here so the sushi is fantastic. From my experiences the cuisine in our area is focused strongly on red meat, rice, beans and mandioca. Keep up all these wonderful food posts. I love them! 🙂

I love dumplings of all kinds! I’m not very familiar with Brazilian and South American cuisine – do they have some sort of dumplings as part of their cuisines?

We added dim sum into the glossary since people often associate that style of eating with dumplings. Unfortunately, we never made it to Guangdong and Hong Kong for dim sum. Next time…

Just a note of reference…in Cantonese dim sum doesn’t refer to the dumplings themselves. Dim sum can mean either the meal when you choose small baskets or plates, or the entire assortment of food at that meal. The dumplings you can get at dim sum include jiaozi, shaomai, bao, etc.
