Hi Bertine,
It’s difficult to find some places in Osh as the streets and addresses tend to not be so exact. Here is a Google Map for the craftsman street: https://goo.gl/maps/XpJWAnzJ1L5972kp8 You can also find more information on it here on the street and where it’s located on Destination Osh: https://destinationosh.com/what-to-do/markets-souvenirs/ Or, you can go into the Destination Osh office and ask them to market it on a map.

Good luck!

I really like your article! I would love to go to craftsman street tomorrow, but canโ€™t find it on the map.

Can you please help?

Regards
Bertine

Lydia, great to hear that Kyrgyzstan is moving higher on your travel wish list ๐Ÿ™‚ There aren’t that many travelers visiting Osh (yet), so you don’t have to worry about beating the crowds. But, we really find visiting in late April/May is really nice as the city is green and all the trees are blossoming.

Ilona, thanks for your kind words about our article! Many visitors to Kyrgyzstan miss Osh as it is a bit removed in the south, but the flight there from Bishkek is quick and pretty cheap (usually $30-$40) so it’s pretty easy to get to. But, Osh will still be there for your next visit ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, we do speak some Russian so we were able to connect and talk with locals. We also had locals with us who helped in translation when we reached the limits with our own Russian. Osh plov is pretty darn tasty, so be sure to sign up for the cooking class when you do visit ๐Ÿ™‚

I had no idea there were that many things to do in Osh. I was in Kyrgyzstan last summer but unfortunately missed this part of the country. During my limited time, I got to see lots of beautiful places but I would have loved to see Osh. It’s too bad you can never have it all.

I really love the pictures you took of locals. Do you speak some Russian so you can talk to them?

I know that when I go back to Kyrgyzstan, I am definitely going to stop in Osh. I want to do some hiking, explore the city and get to know some of the locals. And I would love to do the foodie tour you mentioned. It sounds incredibly good. I have found that food tours are a great way to get to know a country and an area, and also a good way to find unknown dishes. Plus, I would love to learn how to make plov. I had that dish all over Central Asia and quickly learned to fall in love with it. I even tried to prepare it myself when we were camping one night. But I think it would be even better if I knew a real plov recipe and not just one I had googled.

Thanks for the great article and for making me want to travel to Kyrgyzstan again!

Osh seems so picturesque! When’s the best time of the year to explore Osh and beat the crowd?

Great question, Steve! I’ve just added an accommodation to the article above – https://uncorneredmarket.com/osh-kyrgyzstan-travel-guide/#accommodation = with recommendations of some of the places we’ve stayed. Not sure of your budget, but there are a couple of medium and low budget places recommended.

Absolutely, Emily. Osh sure has its share of preserved murals and mosaics.

I think you get the best of everything here. History, picturesque views, interesting people, awesome food, art and the list goes on. What more can you ask for?

And because I’m into murals, this could be my new favorite place to take more photos.
