- For the record, this s the largest rectangle that keeps all verticals vertical. I could try to fill in a little bit on the lower right to allow more at the bottom, or could crop out some of the right side, but this is the largest rectangle without doing that. That's why Yann's restoration - quite rightly: the right hand side building is just all black in that print - has slightly more at the bottom. Comment: Dear @Shonagon:. I hope you’re doing well. I’ve noticed that the current development process applied a rather aggressive noise reduction, which unfortunately removed some of the canvas texture visible in the earlier version. Would it be possible to reprocess the RAW file to try and restore these details? Thank you very much Wilfredor (talk) 19:38, 23 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Wilfredor There has been no noise reduction between versions; I'm sure that only light levels was changed to reach the best balance, which is the one of the current version. Best regards Shonagon (talk) 23:20, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

- The featured version of this film is an SD video that was removed from A Trip Down Market Street back in 2020 and is now used only in San Francisco Ferry Building. I'm including the full HD version as ALT1 since it's the one in use at A Trip Down Market Street, but it's missing a large amount of footage from the beginning of the film. ALT2 is, in my opinion, much better than the others since it's a complete 4K version with much more detail, a less aggressive crop, and no clipped shadows (a helpful benchmark is the plaque ~15 seconds before the end).

- Delist and Replace —Vulcan❯❯❯Sphere! 00:04, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Delist I've just removed this from the Fundamental rights in India article given it depicts a child in the US. Child labour unfortunately remains a problem in modern India, so that article didn't need to be illustrated by a 110 year old photo from the US. More broadly, I don't think that even the improved version of this image meets modern FPC standards - it's a shocking photo and EV is solid, but there's lots of empty space around the poor girl. There are a range of better photos from the same collection at Commons ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Photographs_of_child_laborers_by_Lewis_Hine ) and a vast number of other photos of the same topic there. At the risk of getting a bit wonky, a photo of a single child with farm produce also isn't a good choice for illustrating child labour, given that in most countries the legislation banning child labour includes provisions that allow the children of farmers to do a small amount of work on their parent's farm outside of school hours. Nick-D (talk) 01:04, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, you're right it was a poor fit for the India article, but I think it's an excellent one for Child labor in the United States; that article is not restricted to illegal labor (and if the caption is correct that this was taken during the school year, it would have eventually been illegal in the US anyway). I take your point on the aesthetics, but I think the composition lends it an effective bleakness, and I tend to give Lewis Hine the benefit of the doubt. blameless 01:45, 21 September 2025 (UTC)

- Reason
- Quite small, subject in shadow, and does not actually show flight feathers as well as some other photos like this one, so it doesn't have much identification value. We have another FP of the same species, though that one does not show the bird in flight (but does show both sexes in one image). We actually have another FP of a male in flight, which is better than this one but not that great either. And there is a fourth mallard FP as well, a female with ducklings.
- Articles this image appears in

- Currently unused in article space. This was somewhat controversial when nominated due to quality. Astonishingly, despite the existence of a great many free photographs of Wales, I'm not really seeing a good candidate for a D&R; this one's OK but not used in favor of a not very good edit. If you see Mr. Wales about, please take a high quality photograph of him.

- listen, the original one isn't good, but it is adequete and should remain its way. on the other hand, this one is HORRIBLE and the details are hard to pick out. There is no crop so most of the photo is just the outside boundary anyway. No features are good and the quality does not make it qualified in anyway Wcamp9 (talk) 21:13, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
